Shawn Franklin

Shawn is currently a detective at the Gillette, Wyoming Police Department and holds a Professional Peace Officer Certification through the State of Wyoming Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission (P.O.S.T.). Shawn is a certified field training officer, an operating member of the Gillette Police Department Tactical Team and is also an active firearms instructor. Shawn is a graduate of the Countermeasures Tactical Institute, Inc. Urban Combat Course instructed by Doug Pechtel who is the Founder and President of Countermeasures Tactical Institute, Inc., former member of the U.S. Army’s DELTA FORCE and currently a Sergeant Major for the 19th Special Forces Group (Airborne) Utah Army National Guard, U.S. Army. Shawn has attended Ret. Lt. Col. Dave Grossman’s “Bulletproof Mind” seminar. Shawn is currently a certified patrol rifle and MP-5 sub-machine gun instructor as well as a certified practitioner / lecturer for the same weapons systems through Wyoming P.O.S.T. Shawn is also a certified Glock, MP-5 submachine gun and AR-15 armorer. Shawn’s instruction methods are thorough, systematic and well received. Shawn has spent many hours instructing police officers to properly defend themselves, and others, through the proper operation of semi-automatic pistols and patrol rifles. Shawn has also been an instructor in basic patrol tactics as well as officer down / citizen down rescue techniques. Shawn currently holds an A.S. in Police Science and a B.A. in Criminal Justice.
